Komatsu America Corp introduced the C93 Harvesting Head, the first model in the company’s C-series family of “carry-style” heads.
Weighing in at 2,138 pounds, the C93 Harvesting Head replaces the prior 350.1 model, as well as offers improvements for better handling of thinning projects, crooked stem and multi-stem harvesting applications.
With a working range of 6 inches (150 mm) to 15 inches (370 mm) in diameter and a maximum cutting capacity up to 23.6 inches (600 mm) in diameter, the C93 is available installed on Komatsu 911.5 and 931.1 Harvesters. The head is also available as a loose head for installment on other carriers.
The C93’s frame design allows the head to closely follow the tree trunk. The head features a rearward tilt angle of 40 degrees, as well as a three-driven roller, four motor carry-style feed system.
The head can generate up to 5,688 foot-pounds of feed force at up to a 16.4 foot per second feed speed.
The C93 is equipped with one lower and two upper hydraulically controlled delimbing knives and a fixed vertical top knife. The upper knives are designed for handling trees with tough limbs, such as lodgepole pine.
