
Stihl previewed a variety of lithium-ion battery equipment during Dealer Day at GIE+EXPO.
The first ever lithium-ion battery-powered Cutquik, the Stihl TSA230 has no emissions and weighs 8.6 pounds. The new cut-off machine is fueled by a brushless, commercial-grade high torque electric motor.
The cut-off machine gives operators up to 20 minutes of performance with no gradual drop in power.

Stihl also introduced the HLA 85 lithium-ion, extended-reach hedge trimmer, which is equipped with an adjustable telescopic shaft (up to 10 1/2 feet).
It has a 20-inch Stihl blade that’s ground on each side. The HLA 85 has up to an 11-hour runtime at full power (with the AR 900 backpack battery.
The HLA 85 weighs 12.6 pounds, and its gearbox can be folded completely back for storage.
Also on display was a carbon concept saw. While it won’t go into production, company reps say the research used to make it will be used when creating future saws.
