In the spirit of #GivingTuesday, TruGreen donated more than $95,000 to United Way as part of its annual fundraising campaign.
TruGreen employees raised majority of the money in the span of three weeks and the company matched 50 cents for every dollar contributed. This is the second United Way campaign TruGreen has participated in and is just one of the company’s ways of giving back to the community. It also has Service Days where employees do projects in the local community.
“We have amazing employees at TruGreen and this recent fundraising campaign for the United Way once again proves it,” said TruGreen CEO David Alexander. “As an organization, we have created and fostered a culture of giving back and our employees demonstrate that commitment by making positive impacts in the communities where they live and work.”
Rev. Dr. Kenneth S. Robinson of United Way Mid-South accepted the check at TruGreen’s headquarters in Memphis, Tennessee.
“TruGreen has exceeded fundraising goals year after year and we’re looking forward to what we can continue to achieve together,” Robinson said.
Started back in 2012, #GivingTuesday was created to promote charitable actions after the mass shopping days of Black Friday and Cyber Monday. The concept was to celebrate and encourage giving via social media. According to its website, the day “brings together the collective power of a unique blend of partners – nonprofits, civic organizations, businesses and corporations, as well as families and individuals – to encourage and amplify small acts of kindness.”
