STIHL Inc. recently played host to more than 30 firefighters for a day of chainsaw operations and maintenance training at STIHL’s headquarters in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

The firefighters, who were attending the Virginia State Firefighters Association’s annual conference at the nearby Hampton Convention Center, were given an in-depth look at the operation and maintenance of saws that STIHL makes for the fire service industry.

The firefighters spent the day working with STIHL experts on proper sawing and cutting techniques, as well as the repair and maintenance of saws.

STIHL manufactures saws specifically designed for fire and rescue personnel. In fact, the company consulted the Virginia Beach Fire Department while designing the special equipment. One of those products, STIHL’s MS 461 R Rescue chainsaw, features an extra-large starting handle (for use with fire gloves), an extended chip deflector, a built-in tool holder and muffler.

STIHL also offers product application training to companies and municipalities (including many fire departments) across the country. For more information about that program, visit this page on Stihl’s website.
