Kinshofer GmbH, from Germany, and Solesbee’s Equipment and Attachments LLC, a US-based company, announced that they have signed a definite merger agreement. Kinshofer has acquired more than 96 percent of the LLC Units of Solesbee’s under the terms of the agreement.

Kinshofer says that for 45 years, it has been the leading manufacturer of attachments for truck mounted cranes, skid steer loaders and excavators, and it has consistently developed its product range in the crane and excavator markets.

Other important milestones for the development of the company, Kinshofer says, were the acquisitions of Liftall Inc. in Canada, the Auger Torque Group in the UK/Australia/China, Demarec B.V. in Holland and the RF System AB in Sweden.

According to Kinshofer, acquiring Solesbee’s was significant for the company in two ways. The first was that it added new product segments, such as mechanical pulverizers, excavator thumbs and other excavator skid steer products to Kinshofer’s line. Secondly, it improved the company’s United States distribution channel.

A family business established in 1993, Solesbee’s says it puts a focus on the development and marketing of tools and equipment which makes excavators and skid steer loaders more versatile and effective.

The companies say that they plan to recruit more staff to ensure a swift and professional market launch of the companies’ products within either sales organization.

“Kinshofer continues its strategy to provide the industry with a ‘One-Stop-Shop’ solution of outstandingly engineered products to increase efficiency and, more importantly, profitability of its customers,” said Thomas Friedrich, president and CEO of Kinshofer Group. “The acquisition of Solesbee’s was the next step in our approach to be a local manufacturer in North America.”

“The concentration of knowledge and competence will form a powerful centre for future developments customers can only benefit from,” said David Jenkins, co-owner, president and CEO of Solesbee’s. “In particular, the combination of both product ranges will create more ground-breaking innovations for the industry. The whole Solesbee’s management team, which will stay on in its entirety, is very excited to be part of this mutual future.”

BOSS Snowplow has released its new stainless steel BOSS FORGE v-box hopper spreader, which the company says uses some of the heaviest gauge stainless steel in the category-including drive train and hopper, a ½ horsepower motor.

“BOSS has been an innovator in snow and ice control for over 30 years,” said Mark Klossner, marketing vice president for BOSS Snowplow. “Our team of engineers leveraged what they’ve learned most recently with the BOSS VBX spreaders and applied the best insights, design, technology and customer feedback to develop the FORGE.”

The BOSS FORGE will be available for winter 2017, and offers both pintle feed and auger chain systems.

Additional features:

  • ½ horsepower motor and proven VBX drive train
  • Standard dual variable speed controller; fleet compatible with existing VBX spreaders
  • 2 cubic yard capacity
  • Motor covers protect both the drive and spinner motors from falling sand, salt and de-icing materials
  • Standard top screen and tie-down kit
  • Option for pre-wet capability and upgraded controller
  • Lights, tarp, vibrator and inverted V options for pintle chain systems
  • Lights and tarp option for auger systems. Vibrator and inverted V are standard equipment on the auger system.

“Our customers, especially in the Northeast, wanted a stainless steel spreader option,” Klossner said. “BOSS takes pride in listening to our customers and developing the solutions they need for their businesses, and we plan to grow our stainless steel spreader options and accessories just as we have with our VBX line.”
