Celebratory Setting

Updated Apr 10, 2013

A lifelong journey begins here

To design a landscape that would not only enliven the backyard, but also serve as the location for the wedding of the homeowners in Hudson, Wisconsin, The Greenskeepers out of River Falls, Wisconsin created a tiered, fanciful garden. They used natural stone to create terraces with a 6-foot-wide grand staircase that leads from the yard to the focal point of the fountain. Another stairway then leads from the fountain to the upper patio. The crew planted annuals and perennials on each tier and throughout the backyard, adding bursts of color. For the wedding, guests sat in chairs on the lawn while the homeowners said their “I dos” in front of the fountain. “The couples’ first journey as husband and wife was descending the grand staircase to meet their waiting audience,” says Ben Graf, landscape and irrigation divisions manager. “It was a privilege to provide this beautiful setting for a day the homeowners will surely never forget.”
