This project was installed at Riverside-Brookfield High School in Riverside, Illinois. Dig Right In Landscaping designed and installed 15 raised beds and guided three high school classes on how to plant vegetable seeds. The garden also consists of native pollinating perennials, annuals and grasses. A couple of shrubs provide food for birds. This year, the company looks forward to donating its time in coaching the school. This project was installed at Riverside-Brookfield High School in Riverside, Illinois. Most everyone has participated in a volunteer project at one point throughout his or her lifetime.

Whether it was maintaining a city park, planting trees or plowing snow for a veteran’s family, most everyone has volunteered.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, volunteers spent an average of 50 hours on volunteer activities from September 2011 to September 2012.

Most dedicate his or her time to one or two organizations (70.5 percent and 19.1 percent).

One statistic that is overwhelming however, is that 100 percent of people have the ability to volunteer. Regardless of age, race, religion or class, all individuals have the ability to volunteer in projects worldwide no matter how small or big.

We as a magazine want to share the hours you spent volunteering by taking your project photos and sharing them with our viewers.

The photos may be a way of spreading good spirits, inspiration or even project ideas to a network of people.

We have partnered with PLANET, the Professional Landcare Network, who hosts the PLANET Day of Service every year on April 22, or Earth Day.

Both PLANET and Total Landscape Care are urging landscaping companies who has completed a service project to share their photos with us in celebration of Earth and Arbor Day.

Our Planting for the Future campaign is a way for us to help share your story.
