Today we have started a three-part series honing in on the struggles, plans and futures of landscaping companies.

As part of Total Landscape Care’s annual program, Landscaper of the Year, we take 12 finalists on a cruise and stick them in a roundtable discussion.

RELATED: Landscapers say recession no more; business booming moving into 2015

This roundtable is usually one of the highlights of the trip for everyone involved. It’s two hours of throwing everything out on the table and discussing everything from the recession to retaining employees and strategies and equipment.

The three-part series will focus on all of these topics, with today’s topic focusing on the recession.

Landscapers gave their true and honest opinion of how their business has faired in the past few years, and what they expect moving into 2015.

As far as the other two topics, we’ll be covering exit strategies and landscaper’s biggest struggles.

Some of those struggles focus on healthcare, Departments of Transportation and employee retention.

Does any of this sound familiar?

We’re inviting all landscapers to join the conversation.

Start by reading this series and leave comments or questions on the site about how these topics impact your business.

Stay tuned and see what these top 12 landscapers had to say.
