The small residential lot is in a traditionally hilly neighborhood, and the steep hillside made for a mostly unusable space. Landscapers spent three weeks jack-hammering out the hill and terracing. Gravel and Ipe were used as finishing material to give the space a soft feel, and the beds were filled with a riot of long-blooming summer color.
