Landscaping installed by Root Feeders Inc., Spring Grove, Illinois

Several landscaping companies submitted designs to landscape around the homeowners’ 20-foot by 40-foot below-ground pool. Low-maintenance plants, including woody ornamental shrubs and herbaceous perennials, provided color, structure and seasonality. Many of the flowers provide warm color, adding a sense of depth to the landscape. Plants in the picture include: crimson pigmy barberry, gold finger potentilla, Mt. Airy fothergilla, compact Korean spice viburnum, Knockout roses, compact burning bush and palibin lilac. Price: $12,000.
