Rich Cording Jr. has received the Grand Award for Landscaping from the New Jersey Nursery and Landscape Association (NJNLA) 30 years after his father received the award.

Cording Jr. and Sr. are co-owners of CLC Landscape Design. The younger Cording won the NJNLA award for a poolside planting design and installation project he completed in West Milford, New Jersey.

“I couldn’t be prouder to see my son, a former Navy officer, putting his passion, drive and energy into the landscaping industry, which has been my passion for the last 40 years,” the elder Cording told NorthJersey.com.

For the award-winning project on a lakefront property, Cording Jr. selected new and improved longer-blooming plants, such as Rozanne geraniums, Karley Rose fountain grasses and Knock Out roses.

Cording Jr., who received a master’s degree in landscape design from Columbia University, acknowledges that his dad also taught him important lessons about the business.

“The first piece of advice my father gave me when we started working together is that if you provide knowledgeable, passionate and excellent customer service, you will feel rewarded at the end of a long day,” Cording Jr. told NorthJersey.com. “It’s the approach I take each day trying to exceed my clients’ expectations.”
