Youth aged 16 to 25 in two Mississippi towns will be working on landscaping and beautification projects this summer through a grant from the Federal Highway Administration for its Urban Youth Corps Program, which provides on-the-job training, work experience and basic life skills.
The Mississippi Department of Transportation is partnering with Ocean Springs and Gautier, where program participants will work on landscaping, tree care, watering and litter control along the cities’ major routes.
“The Urban Youth Program is a wonderful opportunity for our young people to learn life skills and to help keep Gautier beautiful,” Mayor Gordon Gollott told the Sun Herald. “We are pleased to be able to offer this opportunity for students again this summer.”
