Top 10 States for Entrepreneurs

Of course, Hawaii would be ranked in the top 10 states for the most entrepreneurial activity. If the sunny beaches and tropical environment weren’t enough of a reason to move to the beautiful island, it looks like this state can offer business owners some hope, as well.

Coming in at No. 8 on CNN Money’s list, Hawaii is known for its tourism and defense, its biggest industries. However, this oasis has started to see more technology startups, says Rep. Colleen Hanabusa (D-Hawaii).

While I wasn’t surprised by states like California and Nevada, which also made the list, I did have to take a second look when I saw a few southern states. Both Mississippi and Louisiana made the list, yet my state of Alabama was not there. (Maybe it was No. 11 and just wasn’t shown, or is that hopeful, biased thinking?) Mississippi actually beat out California on the CNN list.

So, if you’re looking to go somewhere to be inspired and collaborate with innovative people, you might want to visit some of those states.
