Compact machine for D-series
John Deere’s D-series excavator line now boasts a compact version. The 60D sits near the top end of the compact scale, providing power in a small size. The reduced tail swing design allows it to rotate freely within a small radius and get closer to objects on crowded jobsites. This compact checks in at a height of 8 feet, 5 inches and a width of 6 feet, 7 inches, with an interim Tier IV 40.5-horsepower engine.
New features on Case excavators
Proportional auxiliary hydraulic control, swing tower foot pedal control and four-way dozer are the new features available on the Case CX series compact excavators. Available on the CX27B, CX31B, CX36B and CX50B, the hydraulic control allows operators to regulate hydraulic flow to attachments. The swing tower foot pedal control allows for simultaneous function command over the swing tower and house. The four-way blade offers increased productivity in trenching operations.
Bobcat 418 works where space is limited
Bobcat’s 418 compact excavator, which replaces the model 316, has an operating weight of 2,593 pounds and a dig depth of 6 feet. Pilot-operated joysticks control the zero-tail swing machine, providing the operator consistent, smooth control. The undercarriage retracts to less than 28 inches to fit through residential gates. A travel speed range of 1.3 to 2.1 miles per hour ensures quick movement on jobsites.
