New Holland releases FleetForce telematics platform
New Holland Construction Equipment recently launched the next generation of its FleetForce telematics platform with an all-new dashboard, more intuitive navigation and new overview sections that the company says spotlight critical information without requiring the user to search extensively for the data.
The company says FleetForce is offered as factory fit or by aftermarket kits, with subscription plans of one to five years and two different data coverage options.
New Holland says FleetForce complies with the Association of Equipment Management Professionals (AEMP) 2.0 telematics standard, ensuring that the solution is compatible with mixed fleets.
Photo: New Holland Construction“Telematics data from construction equipment only helps if it’s easy to engage with and easy to understand when it’s presented to you,” says Luke Zerby, precision marketing manager for New Holland North America. “The new FleetForce telematics platform presents users with a high level of critical data on a very clear and intuitive dashboard, and then puts all critical machine and performance data within just a click or two, whether you’re at your desk or on your tablet in the field.”
The company says the new dashboard features an easy-to-read horizontal menu at the top of the screen above five widgets that focus on core operating information such as an equipment summary, equipment search, fuel level reports and alarm status.
New Holland says a dropdown menu makes critical reports on factors such as equipment utilization, fuel consumption and maintenance just a click away, and topline menu buttons take users immediately to fleet and maintenance overviews. Additional reports highlighting specific alerts and fault codes are also available.
For a smooth transition, New Holland says it has made it possible for a short period to switch from the new FleetForce version to the previous one with a dedicated icon in the top right corner. The company says the switch is meant to simplify the adoption of the new interface and to reassure regular users.

Honda equips portable generators with CO-Minder carbon monoxide detection system
Honda Power Equipment recently announced that it will be equipping all models in its portable generator lineup with CO-Minder, a new advanced carbon monoxide (CO) detection system designed to help protect users from injury or death from accidental carbon monoxide poisoning.
Honda says the CO-Minder system continuously measures carbon monoxide levels in the air near the generator and automatically shuts down the unit before detected CO reaches a dangerous level.
Honda Power Equipment says it is first in the industry to commit to installing CO detection systems on its full line of generator models.
Honda says it will roll out the CO-Minder technology on existing generator models throughout 2020, starting in July with four models—the EU1000i and EU3000iS Super Quiet Series inverter generators; the Economy Series EG4000 open-frame unit; and the EB10000 Industrial Series generator, the company’s flagship model. By the end of this year, Honda says all portable generator models will feature the CO-Minder system.
Photo: HondaHonda says CO-Minder incorporates a robust, fast-reacting sensor that continuously monitors for carbon monoxide in the air near the generator. If the sensor detects a CO level at or exceeding 800 parts per million (ppm) at a given time, or an average of 400 ppm for 10 minutes (per Portable Generators Manufacturers’ Association [PGMA] G300-2018 standards), the company says it triggers the generator to shut down automatically. Honda says a safety light on the main panel then notifies the user that a buildup of carbon monoxide caused the generator to shut down.
Honda says it designed the CO-Minder system to be fast-acting, reducing nuisance shutdowns from false positives. Honda says the CO-Minder system is built with a comprehensive range of safety features. The company says the system is not intended to be overridden or tampered with, and the sensors are designed to work even if they are accidentally blocked.
Honda adds that the generator sensor system automatically tests itself and is equipped with a built-in warning, alerting the user to replace the sensors prior to the end of life. Finally, Honda says the sensors conform to the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) PGMA G300-2018 quality standard established for carbon monoxide monitors for generators.

The company says labels on the Honda generator models equipped with the CO-Minder contain additional safety information, such as an exhaust directional safety warning decal, an anti-tamper message and information on restarting the generator after an automatic CO-related shutdown.

Talbert Manufacturing offers traveling axle trailer
Talbert Manufacturing announced that it now offers the 5553TA traveling axle trailer for optimum versatility and productivity.
With a planetary winch and Talbert’s redesigned piggy-back cylinder for over 25 percent more power to move axles in adverse conditions, the company says the 55-ton 5553TA excels in moving low clearance and dead loads, making it ideal for towing and recovery operations.
Talbert says an industry-leading 36-inch loaded deck height and low 6-degree load angle provide safe, efficient loading and unloading for a number of additional applications in industries such as rental and general construction.

While other manufacturers use worm gear winches, Talbert says the 5553TA comes standard with a 20,000-pound planetary winch that uses a direct-drive system and offers up to twice the loading speed of alternatives.

Talbert says the remote also allows operation from the offside of the trailer, limiting exposure to traffic and increasing safety, and the remote is rechargeable through a USB port and features a range of well over 200 feet.
Like all of Talbert’s TA Series trailer models, the company says the 5553TA features Talbert’s signature piggy-back cylinder. With a 5-inch diameter, the company says the cylinder allows faster axle travel and more power in adverse conditions.
Talbert says the 55-ton, 53-foot trailer is rated at 100,00 pounds distributed and 80,000 pounds concentrated in 10 feet. Constructed with a one-piece, 4-inch I-beam crossmembers on 9-inch centers, the company says the 5553TA trailer has the strength and durability to accommodate any load.
Talbert says multiple double keyhole tie-down slots come standard for greater loading ease and additional flexibility for securing loads, which the company says allows users to effectively secure and haul multiple pieces of small to medium equipment like forklifts and manlifts.
The company says the trailer’s traveling axle enables a low 6-degree load angle for easy loading, making it ideal for equipment with low ground clearance.
Talbert says the low deck height provides additional clearance under bridges and tunnels when transporting tall equipment and offers a superior view of the equipment and surroundings to maximize safe operation.
Additional features include two large capacity lockable toolboxes — one curbside and one driver’s side. The company says the toolboxes — which include built-in chain racks and weather-resistant door seals — are user friendly and provide increased storage for tools, chains and other necessary gear for the job.
Like all its trailers, Talbert says it manufactures the 5553TA trailer with heavy-duty T-1, 100,000-psi minimum yield steel and the 1½-inch Apitong deck flooring for extreme durability and longevity. The company says the trailers are standard with Valspar R-Cure 800 paint to prevent corrosion.
Milwaukee introduces multi-functional neck Gaiter
To provide users with face, head and neck protection, Milwaukee Tool says it is expanding its workwear lineup with the addition of a multi-functional neck Gaiter.

The company says the Gaiter can be worn as a face covering, headband, neck guard or any other adaptable solution. Milwaukee says the neck Gaiter is washer and dryer safe and will be available in three colors – gray, hi-vis and red.
The company says the neck Gaiter will be available for purchase at select distributors in September.
