Lake Erie Portable Screeners has announced its new Pitbull PB148 Static Grizzly, which the company says pairs ideally with the Pitbull 2300.
The grizzly is designed for landscaping applications when sorting oversized material before screening is needed to prevent equipment damage.
The PB148 is around 6,500 pounds and has an 11-by-14-foot deck area and a 10-foot height. The bars are 3 inches wide and a 3/8-inch wall thickness. They have a standard spacing of 4-inch minus. Additional bars are available if smaller openings are needed.
The screen has 18 bars that are installed with two sets of bolts and nuts driven through the bar and support. This saves users time when it comes to adjusting bar spacing or replacing bars as most competitors’ models weld the bars or have three or more bolts that are threaded through a welded frame member.
“The PB148 provides a simple solution for customers who need a straightforward way to remove large rocks, concrete or other heavy material before screening,” said Stuart Foradora, Lake Erie Portable Screeners factory representative. “In addition, we designed our grizzly to enhance productivity and reduce downtime by including uncommon features in this industry, such as quick and easy bar removal and lift lugs for ease of transport.”
The grizzly features standard “D” ring lift lugs that allow crews to attach chains to the lugs and lift the screen with a front-end loader, excavator or crane. Other models typically don’t have these lugs and crews are challenged to secure chains safely through the screen before it can be lifted.
According to Lake Erie, the bars are also self-cleaning. Designed so the bars rest at an angle to create a diamond shape and tapered openings, material no longer gets stuck between the bars.

Wright introduces new Stander X Gen 2 mower
Wright Manufacturing debuted its new and improved Stander X Gen 2 mower during the 2017 GIE+EXPO in Louisville, Kentucky.
The original Stander X was introduced back at the 2013 GIE+EXPO. The new generation is available with Aero Core deck widths of 48-, 52- and 61-inches. Landscapers can choose between engines ranging with 22 to 24 horsepower.
Some of the new features include an 8-gallon fuel tank, which is a 45 percent greater holding capacity. It also has a highly visible hydro oil cover, easy access to the hydro oil filter and a larger muffler with engine guard.
Operators can use a push-button deck height adjustment lever and enjoy a 3-inch wider platform. The sealed wheel bearings are said to have a long life and the platform switch is also sealed for greater reliability.
Wright Manufacturing says that without a seat, seat belts or armrests users can step off quickly to pick up debris while the low center of gravity and large wheels provide stability on hillsides.

Little Beaver adds planetary reduction gearbox for improved torque
A planetary reduction gearbox is now available for Little Beaver’s Big Beaver and Big Beaver XL drills.
The gear box can provide up to 1,100 foot-pounds of torque, allowing for deeper drilling and the use of large diameter augers.
“Customers using the Big Beaver for more demanding applications, such as soil sampling or drilling foundation piers, need an option for increasing torque for more productive drilling,” said Mike Hale, Little Beaver sales and marketing manager. “The gear reduction makes the Big Beaver more powerful and capable than ever.”
The auxiliary hydraulic source is powered with a 27-horsepower Kohler EFI gas engine, allowing it to operate at 12.5 gpm and have a rotary speed of 100 rpm. The Big Beaver typically operates at 10 gpm with a rotary speed of 150 rpm. The additional horsepower allows the drilling torque to increase from 500 to 1,100 foot-pounds.
The Big Beaver can be paired with an optional Cathead kit, which includes a tower kit, third hydraulic valve and spool for faster soil sampling. The kit’s optional Split Spoon Sampler allows for undisturbed core samples.
This gearbox is available for new Big Beaver models or can be purchased as an upgrade for existing models.
