The company says Paver PreTreat is the first of its kind to address the evolving needs of many new concrete pavers, as well as older pavers that need maintenance by using advanced color enhancing nanotechnology to block the pores.
“Many of the new paver designs have more colors and textures, which can be more porous than pavers of years past, requiring more sealer to achieve the necessary protective coat,” said David Warren, president of Black Diamond Coatings. “We designed the Paver PreTreat as a primer that fills the concrete paver pores and makes it easy to put a coat of any of our color enhancing sealers on top for the look and shine that boosts curb appeal and ease of ongoing maintenance.”
The company says this product is ideal for both new and old pavers. To achieve optimal seal for paver beautification and protection, the company says to apply one coat of Paver PreTreat sealer as a base coat, then a top coat of SG+ (Gloss to Semi-Gloss), LG+ (Semi-Gloss to Low-Gloss) or NG+ (Low-Gloss to No Gloss).

ASV releases new RT-40 posi-track loader
ASV Holdings Inc. has introduced the new RT-40 posi-track loader, which the company says features a compact size in a class of its own.
Providing a productive alternative to walk-behind and stand-on mini skid-steer loaders, ASV says it has expanded its expertise in small-frame compact track loaders with this machine that offers maximum power, reliability, serviceability and comfort.

“The industry has never seen power like this in a machine the size of the RT-40; it’s a powerhouse,” said Justin Rupar, ASV Holdings Inc. vice president of sales and marketing. “The machine features remarkable performance for its 4-foot width. This means our customers can complete work faster, better and more comfortably in restricted areas.”
The RT-40 includes a turbocharged 37.5-horsepower Kubota diesel engine, and ASV adds that the 1.8-liter displacement engine produces 84.5 foot-pounds of torque. Its Tier 4 Final engine requires no regeneration, diesel exhaust fluid and exhaust sensors, and ASV says it also provides high tractive effort as a result of the company’s posi-power system.
Weighing 4,175 pounds, the model features a rated operating capacity of 931 pounds and a tipping load of 2,660 pounds. The loader is 48.3 inches wide with an 8.4-foot lift height, and it features speed as fast as 7.1 mph.
Variable auxiliary hydraulic flow comes standard on this loader, and the system operates at a high auxiliary circuit flow rate with a 13.3-gpm pump capacity and 3,000 psi system pressure.
The company says the use of a direct drive pump eliminates the labor-intensive belt servicing that comes with belt-driven pumps. ASV adds that the direct-drive pumps, along with the machine’s large line sizes and hydraulic coolers, transfer more flow and pressure directly to the attachment and prevent power loss.
ASV says all maintenance points can be easily accessed via a large rear-tilting hood, and it includes filters, fuel and oil tanks and reservoirs, the battery and hydraulic and water separator drains. ASV says an electric lift pump is also included for easy priming and extended fuel filter life.
With a fuel tank located in the engine compartment, ASV says operators have easy access to the drive pump. This model includes a heavy-duty frame, drive table and axles, and ASV says the machine also includes a high-quality, durable track with a pro-rated warranty period of two years/1,500 hours in addition to the one-year bumper-to-bumper warranty.
ASV says the unit’s cab provides rollover and falling object protection, safeguarding the operator from outside elements and eliminating the fatigue that comes with standing.
With large windows, a bright rear light and adjustable front pedestal lighting, ASV says safety is improved in underlit conditions. The cab comes standard with a rearview mirror or it can be equipped with an optional backup camera.
ASV says it designs its posi-track and skid-steer loader frames independently, and the frame is a 10.8-inch ground clearance. The company says the purpose-built chassis also provides a 44-degree departure angle.
JCB unveils electric excavator
JCB recently announced the unveiling of its first ever electric excavator: the JCB 19C-1 E-TEC.
The company says this mini excavator has been developed in top secret at JCB’s World HQ in Staffordshire, where it was first shown. With the drive towards lower emissions, JCB says the zero-emission 19C-1 E-TEC will allow contractors to work inside buildings and in emissions-sensitive inner city environments. JCB adds that it will also allow rail contractors to operate in tunnels and underground without having to install costly exhaust extraction equipment.
Photo: JCBThe company says another huge advantage of the new electric mini is that the external noise, at 7 dBA lower, is five times quieter that its traditional diesel-powered counterpart. This, JCB says, means contractors can work after normal hours in urban streets without disturbing residents, as well as operating in other noise sensitive environments such as hospitals and schools.
When it comes to digging, the company says there is no compromise on performance with the fully charged electric machine capable of putting in a full shift in normal operation. With no daily checks of coolant and engine oil levels required, JCB says the machine is off to work quicker than its diesel counterpart.
“JCB has been at the forefront of developing innovative, low emission construction equipment for many years,” said JCB chairman Lord Bamford. “In producing an electric JCB mini excavator, we are offering our customers a practical and affordable solution for applications that demand zero emissions and quiet operation.”
“By replacing the diesel engine with an efficient, 48V electrical driveline, with the latest generation automotive battery cells, JCB has once again moved the mini excavator market forward,” said JCB chief innovation and growth officer Tim Burnhope. “The 19C-1 E-TEC will provide contractors with a zero-emission, low-noise solution, allowing them to work independently, in late night urban conditions, within buildings and even in rail tunnels with no requirement for costly exhaust extraction equipment. The 19C-1 E-TEC points the way to a new zero-emission future for JCB mini excavators.”
The company will launch the electric-drive 19C-1 E-TEC later this year, and based on the premium specification 19C-1 E-TEC conventional tailswing model unveiled in 2017, JCB says the electric excavator replaces the standard machine’s diesel engine with an electric motor and three next generation 104Ah battery packs.
The company says the modular batteries utilize the most advanced NMC lithium-ion cells in a rugged battery pack housing that’s been designed to withstand off-highway construction use.
Using the latest 48V electrical system, JCB says the electric motor delivers instant, greater torque than the standard machine’s diesel engine. The company says the high efficiency of this advanced electric-hydraulic combination means considerably lower cooling requirements, contributing to longer battery life and the much lower noise level.
Equipped with the same adjustable undercarriage and choice of digging equipment as the diesel model, JCB says the 19C-1 E-TEC provides a maximum digging depth of 2,576mm with the longer 1,100mm dipper arm.
Provided as standard, JCB says a convenient on-board charger allows the machine to be fully recharged in six hours by using a conventional 230V plug.
The company says an optional 110V charging system is also available for sites without 230V electricity, and the company will offer a fast-charging option once the machine has been launched.
Since it features a self-contained power connection, JCB says there is no requirement for an electrical power connection or cable during machine operation. JCB says the 1.9-tonne machine will be capable of handling a range of powered attachments, making it an ideal base carrier for demolition and refurbishment projects.
Initially, JCB says the mini excavator will be available with the ROPS/TOPS and FOGS certified canopy that is offered on all next generation mini and midi machines.
The company says the excavator comes with proportional rocker switches for auxiliary functions and boom offset swing, and the premium model also has a membrane switch pad to the right of the operator for all additional controls, while the fuel gauge has been replaced by an easy to read charge level readout.
Benefitting from a new box section main boom and dipper arm, JCB says the 19C-1 E-TEC has all hoses routed through the boom structure for added protection.
The boom pins and dozer pivot points come with graphite-impregnated bushings, which JCB says allows 500-hour greasing intervals, and all grease points are located on one side of the machine to reduce downtime.
